…more than that, the Walker has moved…to a different site. The Walker, you see, can’t stay in one cramped place for a long time…she needs a place that’s big enough for her to walk around in.

Now she has a place all her own.

So visit her at http://thewalkerootoo.blogspot.com …the Walker’s new home.

This is going to be my next race, the Kenny’s Open ’09 Urbanite Run!

Kenny's Open '09 Urbanite Run

Set for Aug. 15, 2009, Saturday, I’m all excited about this for a number of things…

1. It’s at night πŸ™‚ My first time to race at night…cooler temp, lights around for a different race ambience…hopefully some glow in the dark stuffies…and perhaps a more festive air πŸ™‚

2. Post race gimmik! πŸ˜€ I’m hoping there’s going to be some post-race LCLP or videoke!

3. I hear there’s a concert by Tribo Manila? πŸ™‚ This ought to add to the light and bubbly race mood πŸ™‚

4. Knee high socks! πŸ˜› My first time to race in knee high socks, too…just a little fun-knee thing some Takbo.ph peeps thought of doing to add spice to the run…tuloy ba ito? Sabagay, I don’t mind being the only one in knee high socks in case you guys chicken (mind you, that’s Kenny Roger’s Roasters chicken!) out πŸ˜› Bwahahahah!!

5. Nice and easy 5K run πŸ™‚ No pressures for me…my goal for this race is to run the entire 5K without walk breaks…no matter how slow my time πŸ™‚ But, if I can’t hack that, I don’t care πŸ™‚ I’m running for the fun of it πŸ™‚ Though, I might have to hurry…don’t want to be late for the LCLP! πŸ˜› hahaha!!

6. The timing chip! πŸ˜€ My first ever encounter with that cute little gadget was at the Globe Run For Home. Needless to say, the post-race reporting was very interesting πŸ™‚ Sure it had some glitches here and there, but over-all, this cutesy wootsey time chippy is definitely a helpful addition to races…it’d be nice if all races had this little thingiemajigsie πŸ™‚

Details? Oh, I’m sure you guys already know…you’ve all probably registered already, too πŸ™‚ If not, well, just click here (Takbo.ph details), here (Kenny Roger’s Page) or here (Gingerbreadman’s Report) .

Oh, yeah, those two guys from the Amazing Race…(lemme think for a while…) yeah…Mr. Marc Nelson and Mr. Rovilson (I’ve forgotten your first name…sorry…it ain’t you…it’s me) I hear are gonna be there…so I’m sure lotsa girls are quite excited about this, too! πŸ™‚

Something akin to a parlor game (where a couple gets their inner legs bound and they race 5 or so meters to the finish line) to the tune of “Eat For Two” by 10,000 Maniacs, Robinson’s Supermarket is holding its second Fit and Fun Wellness Buddy Run this coming July 12, 2009, Sunday at the Fort! I’m quite excited about this (I doubt if my partner, who’s waaaay faster than I am, is, too, though πŸ˜› ). So how it goes is that you choose a partner and, sans the bound legs, you run either 5K or 10K (not 5M :P) to the finish line. This should be fun and interesting πŸ˜› Registration is at PHP500.00 per pair (no discrimination here πŸ˜› all sorts of, uhh, couplings are welcome :P) for 5K inclusive of 2 singlets and 2 loot bags…and PHP750 per pair for the 10K, inclusive, likewise, of 2 singlets and 2 lootbags! You can register at Robinson’s Supermarket Ermita, Galleria, BF Paranaque, Timog and Pioneer until July 5, 2009. For more info visit this link

looks like it's a lot of fun! :P

GIG run poster

I got an invite from the UP Mountaineers Environment Committee to join the GIG Run 2009 on June 28, 2009 (Sunday) at the U.P. Diliman AS parking lot. The run’s aim is to “raise awareness on the need to protect the Ipo Watershed.”

Registration is PHP250.00 which includes a singlet πŸ™‚ You can do this through the following:

1. At the Columbia Sportswear outlets at Greenbelt 5, Gateway and SM North Edsa.

2. At ROX Bonifacio High Street

3. At the U.P. Information Office, Tuesdays through Fridays, Quezon Hall (Admin. Building)…look for Bernz Varona

4. Onsite registration

You can choose to run in the 10K, 5K or the 2.2K costume fun run around the acad oval πŸ™‚

For more information, singlet design, map routes and others, check out this site.

I miss U.P. The entire 5 years I was there, I’ve only gone around the acad oval to walk-run maybe twice. I hadn’t known the joys of running then. Now, though, it might be a nice idea to go back and experience U.P. in a new and different light πŸ˜€ I might even see my old U.P. CHK friends πŸ˜€

Check out the U.P. Mountaineers Environment Committee for more information on the Ipo watershed.

See you at the runs!

I’m soooo happy about this! Β When me and my folks went to Tagaytay City Hall last week to register, I saw this new sight right in front of the old Tagaytay Hospital…from out of nowhere, it seems, there lay a Β track and field oval, so new that it had no track marks yet! Β I decided to check it out today (I was thinking it might have been a mirage of sorts :P), and it was truly there! Β I asked the security guard there when it might be operational (they were painting the tracks), and he said probably in 3 days πŸ˜› Β I’m soooo excited! Β I can’t wait to dust up the tracks with my running shoes!! Β The ground is rubberized and it feels great! Β I realized just then that since I started running, I haven’t tried doing miles on any track oval yet πŸ˜› Β Can’t wait! πŸ˜€
